Walking in Right Relations.

St. John's "Walking in Right Relations" group seeks to provide educational resources to help us all grow in an awareness of the impact of colonialism on indigenous people's of Canada and discover ways to take actions towards reconciliation.  We encourage everyone to view the documentary film "Doctrine of Discovery" and commit themselves to learn more reading resources.

2021 marked the first year of a national Truth and Reconciliation Day. St. John's marked it with an orange ribbon campaign on the church property as a witness to the community of our commitment to learn and act.  The Anglican Church of Canada is committed to the long road of reconciliation and has had a long history of listening and learning in partnership with indigenous peoples of Canada. Primate's World Relief and Development.

St. John's has had a long and active association with the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF).  This resource, an outreach arm of the Anglican Church of Canada, works with partners around the world and across Canada in providing relief after natural disasters, and assisting in development opportunities to communities that are in need.

When we aren't living in a pandemic, in a typical year St. John's hosts a lawn sale to raise funds for PWRDF and for a Portage Scholarship, and we partner with St James’ Fergus to offer a Harvest Tea in September to raise funds for PWRDF.

Annually we host a PWRDF Sunday in the fall to learn more about development needs and distasteful relief and how we can best respond.

You can read the PWRDF Parish letters with updates here.

ACTS

This Canadian organization has been working on the ground to provide clean water to communities in Uganda.  St. John's has had a long association with ACTS, and is keen to know how we can help establish water security for those who don’t have access to clean water.
