Choirs of St. John’s Elora
The Parish Choir of St. John's Elora is Canada’s pre-eminent professional ensemble dedicated to sacred choral music. A fully-professional choir, they provide musical leadership for Sunday morning services (11am), seasonal Evensong or Lessons and Carols services, and several performances and run-outs each season. Typical commitments are a Thursday evening rehearsal and one Sunday call (morning or afternoon). The choir runs from September-early June, with a summer break. Remuneration is competitive with similar positions and scales with experience; a travel supplement is provided for singers outside of Waterloo-Wellington.
Auditions are open for the 2026-2027 season. Core positions are available in the Tenor section, and all voices will be considered for the substitute roster for occasional/as-needed calls.
If you are interested in a core or substitute position, please reach out to Director of Music Patrick Murray at music.stjohnselora(at)gmail.com with a brief outline of your previous choral experience.
Good sight reading and previous professional or advanced pre-professional choral experience are expected. Singers of any or no faith background are equally welcome. Interest in early and/or new music is an asset.
Auditions consist of one solo piece of your choice (oratorio or art song preferred) as well as sight singing. Auditions may be scheduled in Elora, Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto, and London.
