The Church of St. John the Evangelist, Elora, invites interested professional singers to audition for the Parish Choir. Current core openings are available for one Alto and one Tenor, as well as substitute positions for all voices (to be contacted occasionally for extra singers or absences). Commitments during a regular (non-pandemic) season include Thursday evening rehearsals and Sunday morning services, with occasional additional engagements (community events, concerts).
Currently, all services are being conducted according to Diocese of Niagara and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health guidelines regarding COVID-19 safety, which include significant modifications to musical contributions within the liturgy. The Parish Choir looks forward to returning to our regular activities once it is safe to do so.
To request an audition
Please send a brief CV indicating past church/solo/ensemble singing experience and other relevant musical and employment experience to Patrick Murray, Director of Music along with a short introductory note indicating which position(s) you are interested in auditioning for by February 1. Selected singers will be contacted with more information and to arrange an audition time. Auditions are planned to be held in February if and when it is deemed safe, or virtually if necessary.
